Satisfy your happy ending cravings with this year’s lineup of romantic , Christmas-themed movies to watch from the comfort of your own home
Alana Higman, a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan, and her family are competing to win the team’s Fan of the Year contest, in a process judged by Director of Fan Engagement Derrick.. The movie was filmed on location at the historic Independence Square in Independence, Missouri, which really does look like that all year round. The locations that served as the Higman family’s general store and Norma and Nick’s BBQ restaurant are real-life family-owned businesses as well.
Okay, wrong sports reference
The square also sports a Christmas light display just like the one in the movie.. I have to give the writers and producers some credit here, as they tried something very different in a Christmas movie story, even if Christmas just involved using a Chiefs toboggan whenever the team had a game on Christmas Day. So they swung big, but only managed a simple punt.
He has a unique style that’s fun to play with
Maybe I should say they tried a deep shot and only got pass interference, not a bomb. Hunter King and Tyler Hynes had decent chemistry here, and we’ve enjoyed Tyler in some of these movies. However, there were a few things about this movie that took us out of the story, like a mother and grandmother practically throwing Hunter into a stranger’s lap the moment he walked in the door.

Then the whole trope of how Hunter was upset about “not believing in the hat” was ridiculous, especially when it was the best the writers could come up with to add some late-breaking tension to the romance. Much of the “best fan” storyline worked, and Ed Begley Jr. Parkinson made him look 15 years older than he should at 75, which is a shame, but it’s not his fault.

A few movies this year have featured an annoying side character who overacts in embarrassing ways, and this movie is one of them. The deli owner almost had me pocketing this movie within the first five minutes. We don’t regret watching it, despite some plot issues, but we won’t be going back for a repeat.
