Plot

Charles, a retiree, gets a fresh start in life when he answers an ad for a private investigator and becomes a mole in an undercover investigation at a retirement home. Michael Schur was inspired to create “A Man On the Inside” after watching the Chilean documentary “The Mole Agent.” He says: “The Mole Agent” documentary is powerful because it makes people feel something remarkably similar across all ages, ethnicities, and genders, and I would describe that feeling very reductively as, “I have to call my mother.” In our show, we tried to do something similar with the tone: Basically, does our show contribute to that feeling of making us want to call our mothers?

All of the characters are extremely relatable and so relatable to someone in your life

To be honest, I have to admit that at first I wasn’t really sure if the show was something I would be interested in, but somehow it managed to draw me in. Before you know it, you find yourself so invested that you just have to figure out who the culprit is!

My favorite quote from the show is “Every great thing in your life, when you look back on it, seems like a miracle” Very poetic because it resonates with all of us

It’s also a gentle reminder that we’re all here trying to do the same thing, live and enjoy life, so we might as well try our best to get along and most importantly be kind to each other. I also admit that it was a little strange seeing Ted Danson in this role, especially when you’re used to him as the Cheers character “Sam”; but early on “Charles” tugs at your heartstrings without leaving any sad memories of “Sam.” A bittersweet, yet tender reminder that Father Time has no favorites.

It’s a nice change of pace, leaving no guilt for enjoying another “police” show

I hope you watch it and recognize and sympathize with the daily challenges that some in our society, in our lives, face on a daily basis.
