Imprisoned in Sing Sing for a crime he didn’t commit, Divine G finds purpose in performing in a theater company with other inmates in this story of resilience, humanity, and the transformative power of art. At the beginning of the film, the actors are auditioning for different roles in the play. These are the actual audition tapes that were used in the casting for the film. The group was criticized for not acting in comedies, although their previous play was A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which was a comedy. Rating: 8.7 Overall, this is a powerful film that shows that inmates are still human despite their mistakes, as the film uses RTA alumni Sing-Sing to deliver this powerful message of redemption, all in led by the excellent performance of Colman Domingo.
