Of course, they just develop the characters and set a unique tone

Spies, London, Kira, Ben, quality cinematography, a wonderful soundtrack – what could go wrong? Plus, I already know that this is my favorite genre, and I will ignore any shortcomings that may arise. But when the dialogue in Episode 1 was slow, some moments dragged on too long, and the walls of Quinten-style dialogue demands left me listless, I tried to console myself.

I was wrong

As the episodes dragged on, I realized that this series would not be enjoyable. Not just scattered, but with few or no characters that are really dear to me. I honestly don’t know how magic happens, but I was deeply engrossed in the stories and characters in Slow Horses, The Americans, Le Bureau, The Diplomat, and even The Old Man—for all their flaws.

I’m so sad about what could have been

Add to that the lack of stakes and numerous omissions in key details, and the ratio of annoying to intriguing is too high to be enjoyable. Yes, all the basic espionage elements are present in Black Doves, but somehow there was no salt in the recipe, and by E03 I was already increasing the playback speed. No need to waste time scrolling endlessly – here’s the entire lineup of new movies and TV shows streaming on Netflix this month.
