Divine G, imprisoned in Sing Sing for a crime he didn’t commit, finds purpose by performing in a theater group with other incarcerated men in this story of resilience, humanity, and the transformative power of art. At the beginning of the film, the cast is rehearsing for various parts in the play. The group is criticized for not doing comedies, but their previous play was A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which is a comedy.

I love the hope this movie gave me

People are just people at the end of the day. I’m not sure I would have chosen this to see in the theater, but I was just blown away by how good the movie is. I don’t know anything about awards and when these decisions are made.

Tears of joy

I would be absolutely shocked if this movie didn’t win. The characters feel authentic and are absolutely lovable. I was so surprised to find out more about the cast at the end of the movie and it made me cry even more.

Hope feels so good

I loved that the characters were raw in their performances and I can’t say that enough. This movie is big and feels so important.
