Hodge is the third actor to play Cross, following in the footsteps of Morgan Freeman, who first played him on screen in 1997’s Kiss the Girls and then in the 2001 sequel Along Came the Spider , and Tyler Perry as the title character in 2012’s Alex Cross , which was a box office smash and led Lionsgate to pull the plug on the first installment of its planned sequel, Double Cross . My biggest complaint is the dark cinematography. Every scene was dark and misty. It soon became apparent that there was a lot of fog that would distract me from the film… where was it coming from? No one smoking. Forest fires? They could be out at noon and the sky was blue, and yet they found a way to make it look dim… like a permanent eclipse or something. Also, I won’t spoil the ending, but it was a bit off, and then I tried too hard to tie up all the loose ends… I’d even say it was embarrassing at times.
